If your journey takes you to eastern Serbia, be sure to visit the town of Knjaževac. Tourists gave it the name “Serbian Venice”, which has three rivers and seven bridges.

Another popular name is “Little Paris” because there used to be one tavern for every hundred people, as well as because of the fact that the facades in the Old Bazaar really resemble the city of light.

As we have already mentioned, the city is located on three rivers, so in addition to the Svrljiški, Knjaževac can also boast of the Trgoviški Timok, and when they merge, the White Timok flows towards Zaječar and together with the Black Timok forms the Timok.

There are seven bridges over these rivers. The most famous of all is the Stone Bridge, which dominates the city and was designed in 1913 and with its span of 30 meters was the largest bridge of its kind in Serbia.

In addition to this, Knjaževac also has its own bridge of love, on which you can see, not so many, padlocks, and this tradition has only recently come to life.

In the old city center, i.e. The old bazaar houses the already mentioned architecture of Little Paris, and a walk along Svrljišlji Timok in the shade of linden and chestnut trees, as well as ice cream on tap, is a real pleasure.

This elegant town of southeastern Serbia has the spirit of the past and leaves no one indifferent. People usually say that they did not expect much from their visit to Knjaževac, but they got a lot.
