The exhibition “She” by the sculptor Vladislava Krstić was presented last night in the Rančić house, the gallery of the Culture Center of the Grocka municipality. In front of the visitors were sculptures in full plastic, reliefs and wire works in which the author deals with the classic and always current theme – woman. The works are made in bronze, plaster, terracotta, metal, wood…

Art historian Zorica Atić, director of this cultural institution, greeted visitors and guests on behalf of the hosts.

‒ In various materials, the author deals with a classic and always current topic – women. In full plastic and fully depicted figure or torso, relief and drawing, She is shown in motion, gentle and strong, fragile and unbreakable, revealing the principle of duration and the woman who is the bearer of life. The inspiration and theme of the works is their own character, they are harmonious and unobtrusive self-portraits, and the warmth of the exhibited works and the specially composed setting “talks” with the observer and Rančić’s house, an authentic family home, a sculptural beauty of folk architecture, in which each exhibition is unique and different – said Atićeva.

Opening the exhibition, Dr. Oliver Tomić, art historian, presented the author’s work.

‒ Exhibitions of paintings are a two-dimensional world that we observe from the outside, from the third dimension, in contrast to exhibitions of sculptures, in which we are invited to physically enter, to look inside, to breathe inside, think and talk to each other. Such is “She”, the Belgrade sculptor Vladislava Krstić. It is a living entity, in which we move between plaster, wood, red and white terracotta, gold, green and black bronze and brass, from gold to blue. The wealth of materials and colors, combined with a wide range of dimensions, from miniatures, through mid-nude to supernatural size, all make up one universe, which invites the viewer to explore it thoroughly. It is harmonious, yet full of contrasts, or rather antinomies, from the union ‒ or conflict ‒ of the concrete and the abstract to the chromatic confrontation in the spectrum between white and black. “She”, as if in an overture, reveals her genesis to the visitor, where it is understood how the transparency of the drawing and the lightness of the relief are transformed into the solidity of the sculpture. Already in the drawings, the richness of color and technical variety are present, through almost black ink and pen, gray graphite pencil, red chalk, and green ink and brush. The reliefs shyly step into the third dimension, where their lyrical note will remain, enriched by the strength of the mastered material in the space… ‒ Tomić explained.

During the opening of the exhibition, students of the “Nevena Popović” OMŠ from Grocka performed, as well as special guests of the exhibition – seasoned jazz musicians Miloš Krstić, piano, Matt Schiff, guitar, and Sava Ramjanac, double bass.

Vladislava Krstić graduated from the Sculpture Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of the Arts in Belgrade in 2007 in the class of professor Slavoljub Caja Radojčić and specialized in 2010 in the class of professor Nikola Vukosavljević. So far, she has had eight solo exhibitions and participated in more than one hundred and thirty group installations and art projects. She is a member of ULUS and has been awarded for her work.

The exhibition in Rančić’s house lasts until May 13.
