Cassandra, Ljovisna, Esmeralda, Zlobnica, Robinja Isaura, Marisol are just some of the heroines of Latin series that Serbia has been crazy about in the last few decades. Although the popular “soap operas” are no longer so popular, their main heroines still attract attention, and the actors we remember in the roles of great seducers are somewhat less interesting.
LETICIA CALDERON – ESMERALDA
Leticia Calderon’s admission that she struggled with drugs shocked many.
“I was young, at the peak of my career, full of money and everything was available to me.” Recklessness and folly almost cost me my life. I also snorted cocaine, and my longtime friends got me into it,” said Leticia.
The death of a friend caused by taking an excessive amount of drugs acted as a sobering effect on the actress. She realized that it was time to leave the vice behind.
Her story about raising her son Lucian (12), who was born with Down’s syndrome, also attracted great interest from our media. Among the series of information about her is the one about the serious traffic accident he experienced. The car in which the actress was with her children, Luciana and Karla, was run over by a truck driver. Fortunately, everything ended without major consequences.
The actress, who has two marriages behind her, was one of the few who supported our country during the bombing in 1999.
VERONICA CASTRO – ROSA SALVAHÉ
The pioneer of soap operas, Veronika Castro, who brought the craze for soap operas to Serbia with the series “Rosa salvahe”, devoted herself to reality shows. She participated in the Mexican “Big Brother” as many as five times. However, in addition to acting, Veronika also showed musical talent, she has 30 singles and albums behind her.
The woman who delighted us with her roles did not resist the trend of plastic surgery. The Mexican media did not miss her attempts to preserve her youthful appearance. Mrs. Castro is married to actor Manuel Valdez, and is the mother of two sons, Christian Castro and Michael.
GABRIELA SPANIĆ – VILLA
Gabriela Spanić recorded 18 soap operas, and she herself survived one. A few years ago the housekeeper tried to poison her and her son by putting ammonia in the food. Marcia Celeste Fernandez Babio, to whom the actress confided the most intimate things and trusted her unreservedly, was soon arrested. The Venezuelan actress and singer of Croatian origin managed to emerge victorious from this problem.
Even more interest was caused by her nude photos in the magazine “H Ekstremo”. The editors of this magazine convinced the actress to pose naked after the failed offer from “Playboy”.
SCARLET ORTIZ – LJOVISNA
Scarlett Ortiz lives in Miami with her husband, actor Jules Burkel, and plays in the Mexican adaptation of “Desperate Housewives”. Our audience met this actress in the television hit “Ljovisna” where she played the main role.
Scarlett received positive reviews for her acting, but she received even better comments for her great physical appearance. Even today, at the age of 45, she is considered one of the most beautiful Latin American actresses.
KORAIMA TORRES – KASSANDRA
Cassandra left the biggest mark by far. She recently stated that she realized that she was “professionally fulfilled” only when she came to Belgrade and saw how much they loved her. She is married to colleague Nicolas Montera, with whom she has a son, and leads a fairly quiet life, and physically she has changed very little.

THALIA – ROSALINDA
The star of the once popular series has long since built a music career, which was greatly helped by her marriage to the recording powerhouse Tommy Mottola, Mariah Carey’s first husband. Talia is 52 years old today and still looks great.
After Rosalinda, she did not act in telenovelas, and she was not particularly successful in films, and today she is best known as a singer. She has a son and a daughter with Motolo.
OSVALDO RIOS – CASSANDRA
Osvaldo Ríos became famous in the telenovela “Cassandra”; which in the 90s recorded high ratings in the area of the former Yugoslavia. That series was a springboard for the Puerto Rican, after which he played roles in the soap operas ‘Three Fates’, ‘Love’s Victory’ and ‘Wild Heart’. However, at the height of his popularity, Osvaldo had to take a break from acting when his ex-girlfriend Daisy Annette Santiago accused him of physically abusing her. Because of this, he ended up in prison for three months in 1996. Rumors also spread that he abused the singer Shakira, with whom he was in a relationship at the end of the 90s.
“That’s funny. One of the biggest lies ever invented. Shakira herself said that I treated her like a prince,” the actor commented on the accusation at the time.
He pointed out that the singer would not have dedicated wonderful, love songs to him if he had ever mistreated her.
But then Rios publicly repented for his violent behavior and went to a psychologist for treatment. With that move, he secured new roles in soap operas, but also devoted himself to a musical career. Osvaldo was unlucky in love and divorced three times, and has three sons. Since 2015, the actor has been in a relationship with his colleague, Cuban Ivelin Giro.
WILLIAM LEVY – BEWARE OF THE ANGEL
William Levy rose to fame in the series “Caution with an Angel” in 2008 and made millions of women crazy, who were shocked by his scandals in recent years. He first went bankrupt after shooting the movie “Addicted” and the video with Jennifer Lopez for the song “I’m Into You”. Cuban Brad Pitt, as he was nicknamed, pursued a Hollywood career and refused roles in soap operas because it was beneath his honor. Because of this, he fell into financial problems and declared bankruptcy, and in order to get back on his feet, he started accepting all acting engagements.
Last year, he was in the middle of a big scandal after information leaked to the public that he cheated on his wife, model and actress Elizabeth Gutierrez, with more than 80 women. William and Elizabeth have been married since 2003 and have a son and a daughter.
Among the women with whom he had affairs was his co-star from the telenovela “Storm in the Heart”, Jimena Navarrete, who spoke about it publicly. He also loved the actress Jacqueline Bracamontes and she believed his promises that he would leave his wife for her. She published the details of the affair in her novel and pointed out that she broke up with him after she found out that he was expecting another child with his wife. Of course, Levy denied everything. This was not the end of William’s problems because he was charged with luring a minor into a hotel room and forcing her to have sex. The lawsuit was still withdrawn, but the most shocking thing was that the actor didn’t even try to deny that he slept with that girl, but said that she lied to him about her age and he didn’t know she was a minor.
Even then, the actor’s marriage with Elizabeth did not come to an end, and later it was found out that he was with 28-year-old Barbara Lopez, the daughter of the famous producer Reynaldo Lopez. The actor’s wife said that due to the new affair, she is definitely ready to divorce her husband, but according to foreign media, she has not yet initiated a lawsuit.
