On Christmas Day, January 18 this year, one Lena was born. Her mother Daniela brought her into the world in a car while traveling to the maternity hospital. At the toll booth in Lazarevac, she asked her husband to help her and take off the lower part of her wardrobe so that she could take the baby, and then the most beautiful sound was heard – Lena cried.
Danijela Živanović from Lazarevac told about an unusual experience during her third birth. On the way to the maternity hospital, she gave birth to a girl who immediately cried, and her husband helped her with that. How everything unfolded, how much fear was hidden in them and how the doctors reacted when she arrived at the hospital with the newborn, this brave mother reveals.
– I was at the doctor’s in the afternoon, the day before the birth. The CTG was neat and everything was fine. That was on Thursday and the agreement was to see you on Saturday. I gave birth on January 18 this year, on Christmas Day. When I returned home, I took a shower, lay down and when I woke up I felt mild pains. While I showered, got dressed, my husband packed things into the car and we set off. However, from our house to the main road, the street was completely dug up, there were holes on all sides. I was in the back in a semi-lying position – says brave Daniela.
As she had given birth to two boys before Lena, Daniela knew that the birth would happen halfway to the maternity ward, so she alerted her husband to help her.
– I immediately knew how to behave and react, given that I had given birth twice before. The husband was scared, it’s funny to me now, but the husband was really scared. When I saw that I was about to give birth, I told my husband to stop and help me. He took my things off, leggings and sneakers so I could take the baby and the moment Lena was born I told him to give me a nightgown to cover her because it was cold. So I gave birth in Lazarevac at the toll booth – says Daniela, who was waiting in front of the maternity hospital with disbelief by the doctors.
– Everyone went out in front of the maternity hospital because we called the emergency room and they were already waiting for us, but my placenta remained inside and they couldn’t take the baby, so they put me on a stroller to lie down and they took the two of us by elevator to the delivery room and cut the umbilical cord . They were very surprised that I gave birth in the car and asked me how my husband took it. I will never forget his face while he was looking at everything – recalls Danijela’s unforgettable moments.
As she says, even during her pregnancy, she talked with her husband about having him attend the birth, and in the end, that wish came true.
