The question that has divided the internet these days is – do you work to live or live to work? This debate was sparked after a “middle class” man posted on TikTok what his looks like monotonous daily routine and thus provoked bitter comments about existence in modern society.

The said TikTok user managed to irritate people in some way just because of his quiet and repetitive lifestyle.

Namely, the routine of the twenty-nine-year-old American caused a wave of reactions after his videos on TikTok, some of which were characterized as: “Literally the saddest thing to see at this time”.

In the minute-and-20-second video, the Dallas man starts his day by showing up and getting dressed for his office job in insurance. After getting dressed, she prepares a protein shake, packs up her laptop and takes out the trash, and stops at a donut shop on her way to work.

He says the drive takes about 10 minutes and arrives at 7:45 a.m., before he gets ready for the day. After a few hours of work, he takes a break and goes to lunch before going to the company picnic at 12 noon.

He returns to work by 1:00 p.m., and is out by 4:00 p.m., stopping at a pet store on the way home to pick up food for his dog Benny before arriving home at 4:30 p.m. and changing.

He takes his dog Benny to his mum’s house – which he says is his dog’s “happy place” – at 5pm and then drives home. This tiktoker is married and expecting a child with his wife, he seems happy with his life – but others interpreted this as “sad”.

For some, the routine from 9 to 17 is hell, and for others, heaven

While some thought that his work and routine in the office was just fine, others declared him “empty”, and someone posted it on the social network X and wrote: “This is literally the saddest thing I’ve seen in a long time.”

“Wow. This is the most empty life without any real purpose I’ve seen in a while,” someone wrote.

“Man is trapped in the Matrix”, another stated.

There are those who do not see a problem in this way of life.

“Dude, he can afford to eat three meals a day, commute only 10 minutes and only spend 6 hours a day at his desk. Looks like he’s winning,” one X social media user pointed out.

“He has a good job. Three meals a day. Nice house. Dog. Why sad”, “This looks like a man living a full life, why can’t people be satisfied with simplicity”, the comments read…

“I’m not sure why that’s sad”

“People live in war-torn countries and you think this is the saddest thing you’ve ever seen,” someone added.

“An office job isn’t my thing, but the guy has what looks like a decent house in a decent neighborhood, a well-paying job, a happy dog, can afford to eat out whenever he wants, drives a nice car, has a good relationship with his mom, and is married is,” another user pointed out.

By the way, the guy who goes by Hubs.Life went viral last August after one of his daily vlogs went viral, dividing the internet once again with his routine.

Thousands called his routine “more terrible than anything imaginable,” while the Hub itself claims it is “every day a blessing”.

And while he introduced himself to people on the net as “Hub” and clearly doesn’t care that many people think he lives a sad and empty life, he just wrote that he considers himself just a normal person doing normal things.
