Every woman is beautiful in her own way, but if you are stupid, beauty is a handicap, according to actress Monica Bellucci.
One of the most beautiful women in the world, an Italian actress and model, who is currently promoting the film “Beatles” (directed by her partner Tim Burton) and plays in a play about the opera diva Maria Callas, spoke in an interview for Novi Magazin about her career, her love for acting , visits to Belgrade.
“Since I was a child, I loved fashion design. I started working on film at the persuasion of several friends and colleagues, in cooperation with my instinct and curiosity. At first, I didn’t know if I was still a model, or if I had become an actress. I wanted to be an actress, but it was hard to believe. Now things have fallen into place and the offers I receive are more and more interesting. My instinct has always told me that film is a space where I can express my talent. Being an actress is the sublimation of femininity,” said Monica Bellucci, singling out the films “Apartment” and “Malena” as her favorite.
The actress added that she learned the most during her career from her ex-husband Vincent Cassel, but if she could choose, she would most like to work with Robert de Niro again because she “experiences him as her older brother.”
Talking about how much beauty can help in life and career, Bellucci said that every lady is beautiful in her own way.
“If you are stupid, beauty is a handicap.” If you are wise and know how to use it, then it is not. Beauty arouses the curiosity of other people. However, as Oscar Wilde would say, beauty only lasts five minutes if you don’t have something else to keep that curiosity going. I know many beautiful people whose lives are so terrible. My appearance certainly affected my career and my private life. I don’t think I would have made this kind of career if I was just pretty. Directors do not call you for casting because of your beauty, but because of your talent. My career is exciting, but love comes first, above all the love of your fellow man. I am happy because I am loved,” she said.
The actress mentioned that she was in Serbia twice, at the opening of Kustendorf in 2013, as well as FEST in 2017, and that she would like to visit Belgrade again to shoot a new film there.
