“There is no reason to stay any part of the case (as the court confirmed at the hearing on January 5, 2024) and certainly no basis to delay the briefing or any other activity in any way related to Jamie’s motion for summary judgment, which is on on hold until a hearing on April 12, 2024,” his legal team wrote in new documents. He indicated that he and Britney are unlikely to resolve their issues after spending more than two years without reaching an agreement.
“The parties have had months (actually, years) to discuss a settlement. They have not reached an agreement. Imposing a delay simply because meditation is scheduled for February 23, 2024 seems certain to result in a continued trial if the parties do not settle during mediation.” , the lawyers added.
Spears and her lawyer have resisted her paying legal fees, the Daily Mail reports. In a statement she gave in court shortly before her custody was terminated, Britney said the arrangement prevented her from marrying her then-boyfriend Sam Asghari, whom she later married.
