Zdenko was on duty in Pristina for a while, and all that, as he himself said, affected his family relations.

– I was born in Vinkovci in Croatia, as was my ex-wife, Novak’s grandmother Elizabeta. I came to Belgrade as a military person, and she came to school. Our daughters Diana and Sanda were born there. I was on duty in Pristina for four years, every weekend I traveled to Belgrade and back, so imagine what life was like. All of this affected family relations – Zdenko says with a voice in his voice and adds:

– There was a divorce, that’s the story of a military person. I could not participate in raising my daughters as much as I should have. A buffer zone was created, tension between us and always the question of who is to blame. I say it takes two to fight. Diana put the blame on me, she didn’t forgive me – he said then.

Zdenko: “If my daughters had lived with me, maybe it would have been different”

They lived with their mother, if they had lived with me, maybe it would have been different. They were young, inexperienced, they didn’t understand that all that glitters is not gold. I’m sorry about that. Mostly because of my second wife, who told me that she would be the one to blame. And I stand by the fact that it was my idea. Later, relations improved, everything is fine now – he said.

By the way, Diana Djokovic once revealed that she did not grow up in a religious family.

As she pointed out in an interview, she was never taught to believe in God since she was a child, and they never celebrated Christmas and Easter.

Diana: “My parents didn’t teach me to believe in God”

– My parents are Catholics, but somehow the party and communism brought them up. They declared themselves as Yugoslavs. I was not taught from a young age, nor did I have anything to believe in God, nor did we celebrate Easter or Christmas. I couldn’t pass it on to my children because I didn’t have it, I’ll be honest – Diana said at the beginning.

Diana then revealed that Novak was baptized together with his brother Marko in May 1992 at the request of Stanka, Srđan Djokovic’s mother.

Diana, Srdjan Djokovic

– In Srđan’s family, they were not baptized either, because they could not or were not allowed to be baptized. Srdjan’s late mother, Stanka, was seriously ill with bone cancer towards the end of her life and was expected to die. She really wanted to baptize the children before her death. So in May 1992, when Novak was five and Marko was not even a year old, we finally decided to get baptized. – she revealed, “Sputnik” reported.
