“They killed him in the attic. They were not even aware of what they had done. They argued for half an hour, voices echoed throughout the street. After that, only Vasa was heard crying: “Help! Help!” This is what the neighbors of Vasa I. (73), a man who was allegedly killed in a house in Smederevo on May 23, and whose death is suspected by his daughter-in-law and her two daughters, told Blic.

On Tuesday, the hands of MI (73) and her daughters AI (44) and BI (45) were handcuffed due to the suspicion that after an argument they had given their cousin several blows on the head and body, but also that they had squeezed him around the neck, which is why he is suspected to have passed away.

Neighbors told “Blic” that their dispute over the division of the family home has been going on for years and that court proceedings are ongoing.
– Vasa was an engineer, but he had a strong temper. He lived in Canada with his wife and two sons, and he also has grandchildren. He worked in Canada for almost 30 years, and did not return to Serbia for even 20 years. Well, this summer he came for a couple of months, while the court process continues. He had to appear at the trials – say the neighbors of this family.

There was also a baby in the house
As the neighbors told “Blic”, the terrible crime happened in the attic, while the baby of one of the sisters was in the house.
– The baby was sleeping in the room below, after their shouting the baby woke up and started crying. Creepy sounds were heard from that house that day – they tell us.
They recall the fateful day and explain to us how this brutal murder took place.
– The court awarded the attic to the mother and daughters, however, Vasa was removing the roof tiles to get into that attic and lo and behold, it hit his head. They heard that he had come in and went upstairs, that’s when the fight started. Afterwards you already know yourself – they told us.

Neighbors of the family point out that the two sisters were on good terms with Vasa’s sons, and that they even visited them in Canada.
– They were on good terms, there were no problems between them. The sisters are educated, they have graduated from universities, one of them was even almost in China where she worked as an English translator – they explain to us.
However, as they further state, the man who was killed was even told by his sons to let go of that house and to have another piece of land, but he did not want to give up because, as our interlocutors explain, that house was built by his parents.
– A woman whose baby was in the house and crying, called the police. They were scared, they were certainly not even aware of what they had done. When the police came and asked them what happened to him, where he was, they said that he was in the attic, but that they did not know if he was alive. The police came to that part of the roof where the tile was moved and called the unfortunate man, however, he did not respond – they explain to us.
