She took over the position from the previous small mayor Andrej Božić, who held this title for the previous year. As she stated, her desire was to become the new mayor of a small town, and what is most important to her and what she wants to implement in her mandate is primarily related to the protection of the environment in her town.
Her predecessor, a pupil of “Boško Palkovljević Pinki” Elementary School, wished her success.
The mayor of Sremska Mitrovica, Svetlana Milovanović, wished Aleksandra much success and good cooperation, expressing the hope that she will have more opportunities to participate in decision-making and initiatives.
The theme of this year’s contest “If I were the mayor” was environmental protection. One of the novelties this year was a video competition, allowing the City Administration for Education to evaluate candidates and meet the child and see how he behaves in front of the cameras, which will be part of the job next year.
Today is World Children’s Day, and the City of Sremska Mitrovica always celebrates it in this way, electing a small City Mayor.
