On the day when Vukovarthe Column of Remembrance was held, students who were driving near Nuštra in a car with Serbian registrations were attacked, reports Jutarnji list.
Vukovar: Everything happened in the presence of the police
Portal News published a video showing four young men getting out of a car with Vukovar license plates, shouting and attacking a car with Sombor registration with their hands and feet.
The incident happened on November 18 around 10 am, at the exit from Nuštra.
The news reports that everything happened in the presence of the police, but the attackers did not receive any report.
The witness told Novosti that, while driving in a convoy in the opposite lane, he saw an Audi with Vukovar registration from which two young men were peeking out from the back seat.
They suddenly changed direction and entered the other lane where the car from Sombor was.
– The car driving in the opposite lane had to move to the bus stop. If not, there would be a head-on collision. They entered in front of me, and behind the vehicle with Serbian license plates. Then they started gesticulating, honking and ramming the vehicle, letting them know to stop. That’s when I realized that something was wrong, both because of the day that was being celebrated, and because of the Serbian registration. So I turned on my cell phone camera as a precaution. It shows that they cursed, beat the car and tore off the rearview mirror. The video shows that one of them is wearing a black T-shirt with the coat of arms of HOS, the eyewitness said.
The video also shows a police van, but the attackers got back into the car unhindered and continued driving in the opposite direction.
– The police van was next to it, even a police car, two policemen were looking at him. The attackers got into the car and left, while the police officers stood and watched. It was nothing strange to anyone. I told the policeman that it doesn’t matter who I am and what number plates are on my car, but to allow someone to attack someone so brutally and not react to it is really a shame, said the witness.
The attacked said that they gave up the prosecution and the private lawsuit because they did not want to expose themselves in public.
