In the village of Devet Jugovića near Priština, the Church of the Ascension of the Lord was robbed and looted, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija announced today.

“The vandals broke down the front door, ransacked and stole money from the contributions to the church. The looted church was found by the parish priest from Babino Most, whose parish belongs to the church in the village of Devet Jugovića, who reported the case to the police,” the statement reads.

It is added that this church has been the target of rioters before, and that the fact that it is still being attacked shows a “sad picture of religious intolerance towards Serbs and the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) by Albanian extremists”.

“Frequent attacks on the Serbian people, their property as well as the property of the SPC in the province increase tensions and instill fear in the Serbs who fear for their survival in Kosovo and Metohija and have no peace even in their sanctuaries”, assessed the Office for Kosovo and Metohija.
