The World Book and Copyright Day, by UNESCO’s decision, has been celebrated every year on April 23, since 1995. It was designed with the intention of encouraging as many people as possible, especially young people, to read.

The Pirot National Library marked this Day by donating 330 books from its surplus fund to libraries in the Vocational High School and Gymnasium, as well as to the Tourist Organization.

Today, librarians from the children’s loan department were hanging out with the kids from PU “My Way”, trying to convey to them the importance of books, reading and the library through reading fairy tales. As part of the celebration of World Book Day, on April 22, the Library organized a literary matinee with the famous poet Vera Cvetanović, who presented her rich work to a large interested audience.
