The city of Pirot implements the project “Center for the Implementation of Innovative Social Policy Measures”, in partnership with the Center for Social Work Pirot, the ZIP Center and the Association for Helping Mentally Underdeveloped Persons (MNRL), with the support of the German-Serbian development cooperation implemented by GIZ.
Improving the socio-economic position of women in Pirot is the main goal of the project that the city of Pirot is implementing together with its partners. According to the project manager, Nataša Stefanović, the Center for the implementation of innovative social policy measures in the city of Pirot has been equipped within the framework of a new multifunctional facility intended for fairs and other events. New furniture, IT equipment necessary for work was acquired, and the floor, toilet sanitary ware and lighting were also completely replaced. “Now the renovated and equipped Center is ready to provide psycho-social support to women, mothers of children with developmental disabilities, but this support is also available to all other women from Pirot, especially those from sensitive categories. In the coming period, trainings in the field of digital literacy and career guidance will be carried out within the center, all with the aim of empowering women and their capacity to find work,” says Nataša Stefanović.
Also during the month of February, accredited training for personal companions of children was held, which was attended by women selected in a public competition conducted by the city of Pirot. The participants successfully completed the training and received certificates, and they will be employed for a period of 10 months.
“This is very important for the reason that the five children who are on the waiting list for a companion will finally be able to use this service, and their parents will be relieved and be able to focus on completing other obligations while the companion is with the child,” said Stefanović.
