Voluntary blood donors in Pirot once again up to the task – Pirot news

Not even the rain prevented the volunteer blood donors in Pirot from joining the humanitarian action organized by them, as they do every Tuesday. Pirot Red Cross and Niš Blood Transfusion Institute. Between 70 and 80 units of blood are collected per campaign, which means that the people of Piroć are at the very top when looking at the percentage of voluntary donors in relation to the total number of inhabitants.

The Institute for Blood Transfusion Nis organizes several actions a day in cities in the south-east of Serbia. In Pirot, this humanitarian action is organized every second, third and fourth Tuesday of the month. Stocks are stable, there are enough of all blood groups in stock, but negative blood groups are always welcome.

Dr. Andrija Stevanović explains that because of the approaching vacation season, blood supplies may be reduced, but then actions are more intensive in order to successfully supply the necessary clinical units of blood.

“The response is as good as always, people constantly come to donate blood, which is expected for Pirot,” says Dr. Stevanović. People from Piro are humane, we always collect enough blood here. At the level of Serbia, Pirot is at the very top according to the percentage of blood donors in relation to the number of inhabitants.

The quantities collected in the actions organized by the Niš Blood Transfusion Institute are sufficient for the region of southeastern Serbia, and if necessary, the blood is sent to other centers and clinics throughout Serbia.
