French President Emmanuel Macron spoke with Albin Kurti

The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, in a telephone conversation with the so-called with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, he pointed out that, in the context of Kosovo’s request for membership in the Council of Europe, Paris attaches great importance to the progress in establishing the Community of Municipalities with a Serbian majority.

As stated in the press release of the French President’s office, Emmanuel Macron recalled the “unwavering support of French independence and European integration of Kosovo” and welcomed the implementation of the decision of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo on the return of land to the Visoki Dečani monastery.

“New elections necessary”

Macron underlined the importance that France, in the context of the demands of the so-called Kosovo for membership in the Council of Europe, attributes the rapid and irreversible progress in the implementation of the Community of Municipalities with a Serbian majority.

He also expressed regret for the failure of the vote on the impeachment of mayors in four municipalities in the north of Kosovo.

He reminded that it is still necessary to organize new elections as soon as possible, in which the Serbian population will also participate, the statement added.
