The eighth Great Easter Carnival will be held this coming weekend in the Tašmajdan Park, on the Zemun Quay, on the plateau near the Kalenić Market and on the promenade near Wizelje in Borča.
Like last year, in cooperation with three city municipalities – Palilula, Zemun and Vračar, and organized by the “Kultur shock” association, the Great Easter Carnival will be held. The event will take place next weekend, April 27 and 28, and the entrance for all visitors will be free.
The festival will be held, now traditionally, in Tašmajdan Park, but also at three other great festival locations. These are the Zemunski quay (near “Venecija”), the plateau near the Kalenić market (corner of Kursulina and Krunska streets), as well as the promenade near Wizelje in Borča. A two-day festival with rich content will be organized at all four locations, and visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy a full-day program intended for the whole family. The working hours of the festival are from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
This year, the Great Easter Carnival will also be marked by numerous entertainment programs that will take place on the central festival stages, where music and dance performances, children’s shows and various performances will alternate. Majorettes, street entertainers, mascots of favorite children’s heroes will create a carnival atmosphere throughout the festival area, and various all-day creative workshops will be organized.
The event aims to promote family values and encourage the development of social responsibility among the youngest. Therefore, in cooperation with all primary schools from the territory of the Palilula city municipality, as well as the schools of the Vračar city municipality, a large socially responsible campaign was launched this year, in which children of all lower grades are involved. This year, the children will also compete in the “choice for the most beautiful painted egg” and “choice for the most beautifully decorated Easter basket” competitions. Through this action, elementary students, now traditionally, help socially disadvantaged students from the school desk who need help.
The works of the founders, who are the most creative, will be exhibited at the carnival itself, where visitors will have the opportunity to become the owners of a small work of art by making a donation, according to their capabilities, and thus donate to the entire event. The collected money will go for humanitarian purposes to the fund to which the winner will allocate the funds.
In the spirit of the holiday, this year the carnival will also host an Easter egg-beating competition for which everyone interested can register on the spot, as well as a baby crawling competition. The fastest and most resourceful will win valuable prizes.
