What is written in the agreement on the conditions for fair elections signed by the Proclamation and the opposition on March 9? – Elections 2024

--

After SSP leader Dragan Đilas asked the question how the opposition will look people from Progls in the eyes due to the division over the participation in the unified local and Belgrade elections on June 2, we remind you what is written in the document signed by representatives of the opposition, the coalition “Serbia against violence” and NADA, and representatives of Proglas.

On the initiative of ProGlas, opposition parliamentary parties and coalitions signed the “Agreement on Conditions for Fair, Free and Fair Elections” on March 9which states what should be fulfilled in order for the election process to be regular.

Now that agreement is one of the arguments of those opposition parties (SSP, Serbia Center and Zajedno) that decided not to participate in the unified local and Belgrade elections scheduled for June 2.

Representatives of ProGlas and the then coalition “Serbia against violence” supported these demands, which we list in full, with their signatures.

1. We demand the implementation of the recommendations of the ODIHR mission, which are crucial for holding fair and free elections. As particularly important, we point out the request for revision of the existing and compilation of the correct voter list, as well as the control of the voter list until the election day.

2. We demand from the public service, in accordance with its legal obligations, to timely, completely and truthfully inform citizens about local and city elections, as well as that all participants in the election race are equally represented in the program.

3. We demand that the repeated elections for Belgrade be held within a time limit that allows measures to be implemented to improve election conditions. In addition, it is important that all remaining local elections, where they were not held in December 2023, be held on the same day as the Belgrade elections.

As added in that document, the signatories warn that repeated elections for the City of Belgrade scheduled in a short period of time and in the absence of changes in election conditions will be neither free nor fair, and that we will not agree to them, and we will be united and determined in this regard.
ProGlas and SPN then stated that they do not give up the demand to establish legal and political responsibility for election irregularities and invited all political organizations that want to contribute to the creation of conditions for free and fair elections to join this agreement.

Let us remind you that after the government’s decision to combine the local elections, which were supposed to be held in July and August, with the elections for the Belgrade City Assembly, on June 2, part of SPN coalition (Green-Left Front, People’s Movement of Serbia, Ecological Uprising, Democratic Party, Movement of Free Citizens and New Face of Serbia) decided to go to those elections with the slogan “I choose the fight” and the explanation that without a fight they will not hand over a single city or municipality to the progressives .
