Will this location also become the construction site of Belgrade on the water?

Activists have been fighting for a long time to prevent the site of the Old Sugar Factory from becoming a construction site, and they have a good idea of ​​what it could become with a little reconstruction. For example, did you know that in 2008, the city of Ljubljana bought the building and land of the Ljubljana sugar factory from the owner, and after the construction works, the Slovenian capital got a new space for the presentation of contemporary art.

Can this happen with our sugar factory and what is the plan of the activists, Iva Kosovac, reporter of the morning program “Probudi se”, finds out.

The buildings of the Old Sugar Mill are 125 years old and are under the protection of the City Institute for Cultural Monuments. Back in 2022, the city councilors voted to make this area the Cultural Center of Belgrade, but there is nothing to it because with the new changes to the Spatial Plan, the company “Belgrade on Water” will expand to include the Fair, Čukariki Ruvac, the Old Sugar Mill and most likely the hippodrome.
