Pink Lake… Apart from Mexico, Senegal, Australia, it also exists in Serbia. You can also find a real pink lake in Pachira, a town in the north of Serbia. Pacir is located about 30 km from Subotica, 90 km from Novi Sad and 180 km from Belgrade. I reached Pačir and the pink lake by car from Subotica, after half an hour of easy driving.

In the immediate vicinity of Bačka Topola and Subotica, there is the Pačirska spa, a beautifully decorated bathing place with thermal water that is unique in Vojvodina and in general in this part of Europe.

The hot water in Pacir comes from a depth of 1,400 meters and is salty, which makes going to this spa a unique experience. On its way to the surface, the water passes through different layers of rocks, thereby becoming enriched with minerals. Water contains sodium, iodine, sulfate, bromine and many other health-promoting minerals. The temperature of the water when it comes to the surface is 72 degrees, and when it cools it reaches a temperature of 30 to 35 degrees. The water has the smell of iodine and phenol, but you can get used to it in a few minutes. The lake, in addition to many minerals, also contains 21-22 grams of salt per liter. Based on the composition of the water, the spa received a medicinal certificate. Warm, salty water helps preserve and maintain health, contributing to boosting the immune system. Also, water has exceptional properties in the treatment of various diseases. Water helps in the treatment of various diseases, and most often it helps in solving skin diseases and rheumatism.

The pink color phenomenon

The pink color is created by algae and the lake is pink only during July and August. Also, the degree of strength of the pink color depends on external factors (time of day, cloudiness), but also on the angle from which you look at the lake. The bottom is covered with black and gray rounded stones, on which it is very pleasant to walk. Walking has the effect of massaging the feet. A slightly less pleasant feeling is given by the smell of water, of iodine, but you get used to it after a few minutes. You will feel a more intense smell in indoor pools. The feeling while swimming in the lake is like moving through pink milk. Besides being incredibly photogenic, swimming in the pink lake can also improve your health, so it’s a great choice for a day trip and enjoyment.
