In the evening of March 26, news arrived that a two-year-old girl had disappeared in Banjsko polje. As the mother explained to Telegraf.rs, she went to give water to another child, and when she turned around, her daughter was gone.

Already on the first evening, more than 100 people were looking for Danko on the field. The inhabitants of Banjsko polje, neighbors, friends, fire brigade, as well as members of the Mountain Rescue Service and the police were looking for her.

The mayor of Bor calmly told the residents to retreat that day, so that the police could search for the child, and added that there were sniffer dogs on the road, and that drones had been flying over the area all day. The police continued to search for Danko throughout the night, and the locals were asked to stand back so as not to disturb the search dogs. The terrain was inspected with thermal imaging cameras.

The rain that started that evening made the search even more difficult in the dark, but the search continued during the night. Helicopters were also sent to the field, and the Minister of Internal Affairs, Bratislav Gašić, went to Banjsko polje.

Find me system activated

On the same day, in the evening, when all the information was collected and when it was considered safe for the child, the “find me” system sounded. Citizens received a text message with summarized information about the missing girl, with a link to more detailed information and her photo.

All the panels on the highways showed information about Danka, on every free counter at the airport there was her picture, a similar situation was at the bus and train stations, the media reported on the disappearance, and the televisions interrupted the program for half an hour to highlight the details about a missing child.

On the same day, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia announced detailed information about the girl’s disappearance.

The search for Danko Ilić continued on March 27. On that day, the locals said that there were several holes around Ilić’s house that were between one and two meters deep and that they had filled with underground water. Everyone was worried that the little girl had wandered off and fallen in with one of them. The police used sticks to check if there was anything in the holesbut without results.

In the early hours of the morning, the gendarmerie units that searched the area joined the search, and the search was still hampered by heavy rain.

Members of the Ministry of the Interior, after 27 hours of detailed search of the ground in search of two-year-old Danka Ilić in the suburban settlement of Banjsko Polje and Brestovačka banja, suspended further search, given that all the results so far indicated that the girl is not in that area area of about 10 square kilometers.

It was announced that the search will continue through operations. However, the police set up tents at the place of the girl’s disappearance, which indicated that the search in the field is nowhere near over.

That day Danka Ilić’s parents were invited to give a statement to the police. They talked to the police about whether they received strange messages and calls in the days before the child’s disappearance, whether they noticed unknown people near the house, whether someone contacted them via social networks, and whether they had misunderstandings in their marriage. and what kind of relationship they have with neighbors and friends.

The scene that Telegraf reporters found in the early morning hours of the third day of the search were police patrols that thoroughly inspected cars moving near Banjsko polje.

However, more and more attention was focused on operational work, so it started with by browsing the logs of mobile phones at base stations. The focus was also on examination of the phone of the girl’s parents in order to find out if any contact made before the disappearance could indicate the child’s whereabouts.

The focus was also on questioning people who were in the vicinity before or after the girl’s disappearance, in order to determine details that may have been missed during the previous course of the investigation.

When it comes to the search on the ground, an excavator arrived in front of the house in Banjsko polje in order to move the waste around the house, and the police also checked the surrounding shafts. Also, in several places around the house, police officers were seen digging.

It was not disclosed to whom he gave the information, and he was subjected to a polygraph test which he failed.

Danka Ilić’s mother showed every step she took that day, before the child simply disappeared from the yard.

March 30 – Helicopters over Banjski Polje

The search of the terrain continued with the same intensity as in the previous days, and helicopters that flew over the place of the girl’s disappearance were also included, the entire Banjsko polje, but also the wider area around the settlement. Helicopters filmed the terrain, so that later, by reviewing the footage, it could be determined if there was anything suspicious on them.

They flew over the settlement until 3:00 p.m., and they descended low, so that they could record everything thoroughly. During the day, members of the UKP, as well as the police and firefighters-rescuers, were on the ground.

While helicopters were flying in the sky, the house was still being searched on the ground, and the police were digging in that place again.

The girl’s parents spent another day with the police.

The Serbian police immediately contacted their colleagues in Austria and sent Europol all the data and the video.

The man who took the video said he tried to talk to two women who spoke Romanian. He said that they called the child who was with them, but that the girl did not respond to that name.

That’s right the investigation continued in two countries – Serbia and Austria.

The same day a yellow Interpol warrant was also issued, which is issued for missing persons. Even more detailed information is given about Danka’s appearance. Our embassy in that city also appealed to the Serbs in Vienna.

Danka’s pictures were pasted at border crossings and passport control points.

During that time, not much has changed in Banjski Polje. The area around the house itself was still searched and in the village in the same way as in the previous days, helicopters and drones flew over the village.
