Sremska Mitrovica – Mayor Svetlana Milovanović and Deputy Mayor Petar Samardžić visited the sister city of Banja Luka on the occasion of celebrating the City Day and 79 years since the liberation of Banja Luka from fascism in the Second World War.
Sremska Mitrovica and Banja Luka have been sister cities since 2008, and they cultivate rich and close relations and cooperate in various spheres of society.

Milovanović and Samardžić, on behalf of the City of Sremska Mitrovica, together with other delegations, laid a wreath at the Monument to the Fallen Fighters of the Second World War and bowed at the “12 Babies” Monument.

Mayor Svetlana Milovanović and the deputy mayor laid wreaths at the memorial to the fallen fighters in the Second World War, honoring the heroes who laid down their lives in the fight for freedom and incorporated them into the foundations of our sister city. After that, they bowed to the “12 Babies” Monument, in memory of the 12 Banja Luka babies who lost their lives during the war in 1992 due to lack of the necessary amounts of oxygen.

After that, the representatives of the local self-government attended the Ceremonial Academy in the “Borik” Sports Hall, where an appropriate cultural and artistic program was held.
