The topic of Belgrade and Pristina is the use of dinars in Kosovo

--

In BRUSSELS, talks will continue tomorrow as part of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, where it is expected that the main topic will again be the decision of the so-called Central Bank of Kosovo to ban the use of the dinar in Kosovo.

The Belgrade delegation, which includes numerous experts, will again be led by the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petković, while the participation of its chief negotiator Besnik Bisljimi is expected from the Pristina side.

The spokesperson of the European Commission, Peter Stano, confirmed that a meeting will be held tomorrow at the level of the main negotiators of Belgrade and Pristina on the issue of the dinar, and stated that the meeting is planned to follow the usual dialogue format. As he explained, bilateral meetings will be held with the two sides, initially with representatives of Belgrade, and then a trilateral meeting will be held.

This is the sixth round of dialogue, which should discuss the unilateral decision of Pristina to cancel the dinar payment transactions in the Republic of Kosovo. Earlier this week, the EU’s special envoy for dialogue Miroslav Lajčak expressed the expectation that the upcoming talks between the main negotiators of Belgrade and Pristina in Brussels will be based on “very concrete ideas”, assessing that during the previous round of dialogue the gap between the parties had narrowed.

– At the same time, some differences remain and that is why I will again host the two main negotiators in Brussels and I expect that our talks will be based on very concrete ideas, which would allow us to progress in the interest of the people – Lajcak said on Facebook.

The previous meeting at the level of the main negotiators was held on April 18 in Brussels, and Petkovic said then that Belgrade did absolutely everything in order to find a solution regarding Pristina’s unilateral and violent decision to abolish the Serbian dinar and payment transactions in the Republic of Kosovo, but that Pristina does not want to find a solution.

– We came up with a constructive proposal, and that proposal was evaluated by Brussels, that is, by Mr. Lajcak and his team, as a very good basis, that is, a solid basis for continuing the talks, which once again showed that we are a party that cares about finding a solution – he pointed out is then Petković.

He added that the representatives of Pristina came to Brussels without making any comment or comments on the proposal or ideas of the European Union and that this clearly shows that the other side does not want to agree on anything and does not want to find a solution when it is about the dinar and the payment transactions of Serbia in Kosovo and Metohija.

On the other hand, the chief negotiator of Pristina, Besnik Bisljimi, stated that the meeting was “useless” and that Belgrade came with a completely new proposal, wanting, as he claims, to return the situation to the starting point.
