Igor Mirović will not receive a new mandate for the composition of the Government of Vojvodina, it was confirmed for 021.rs in the office of the President of the Provincial Government.

Mirović revealed on Tuesday evening, during the opening of the new building of the Student Cultural Center in Novi Sad, that he will no longer be the provincial prime minister, that is, that he will perform some other duties in the future.

He said that he entered the Novi Sad political scene at the same place 34 years ago, becoming a member of the People’s Radical Party.

“After 34 years, almost in the same place, this is my last evening dedicated to public action in Novi Sad and Vojvodina, because from the next few months or weeks, I will be doing some other work. In the political sense, I will not return to Novi Sad and Vojvodina,” said a visibly emotional Mirović, reports 021.rs.

Mirović added that it was an emotional day for him, that he was addressing the crowd for the last time, and he wished everyone happiness.

“Remember me too, maybe I will be able to present one of my books sometime in the future,” added Mirović.

Igor Mirović became the Prime Minister of Vojvodina in 2016.

Damir Zobenica, as well as the former mayor of Sombor, Dušanka Golubović, who led the list of the Serbian Progressive Party in the provincial elections, have been mentioned as his possible successors.

Mirović was previously a member of the Parliament of Serbia, the Parliament of Vojvodina, and from 2008 to 2012 he was also the president of the provincial parliament.

Mirović also writes poetry, and has published several collections so far.
