Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić apologized to the Slovenian public for his statement in New York that “Slovenes were the most disgusting”, stating that he was not referring to citizens, but to their politics, adding that he will not “apologise to Slovenian politicians”. He invited Prime Minister and President of Slovenia Roberta Golob and Nataša Pirc Musar to Belgrade in order to “apologize once more if necessary”.

Aleksandar Vučić also said that Slovenia did not send a note of protest to Serbia because of his statement and that they were “correct” in that regard.

“I said that the Slovenians were disgusted when thinking about the Security Council session, and it refers to the individual who spoke about it and their politics.” It’s certainly not the vocabulary we should use, but I humanly said what I think about their policy,” said Vučić in an address to journalists in New York.

“As far as Slovenians are concerned, I think all the best about them as a people, I have friends and family in Slovenia.” Robert Golob is right, I took it as a threat that I shouldn’t come to Slovenia so often,” said Vučić and added that he would “reduce visits to his friends and family in that country.”

Vučić then apologized to the Slovenian public for his statement, but again called their policy towards Serbia “disgusting”.

“If I have offended anyone, I want to apologize to the entire public and the people of Slovenia, but at the same time I say that I will not apologize to Slovenian politicians because they lead a disgusting policy towards Serbia and the Serbian people.” “You want to tell me that it is not terrible that they violate the territorial integrity of our country and that it is not terrible that they sponsor the Resolution on Srebrenica against our people, without consulting, informing or asking us,” he said.

The President of Serbia invited the Prime Minister and the President of Slovenia to come to Belgrade.

“If necessary, I should apologize once again and tell them that I certainly did not think of the Slovenians and tell them to their face what I think about their bad policy towards the Serbian people,” said Vučić.

Let us remind you that earlier today the Slovenian Prime Minister reacted to Vučić’s statement in New York yesterday.

“Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, in a statement on the sidelines of the UN Security Council session, used extremely offensive expressions that do not belong to the presidents of states, and even less to friendly relations between the Slovenian and Serbian people,” announced Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob.

“The words are reminiscent of some other time and are unworthy of the reached level of relations between the two countries.” “Slovenia carries out its work in the UN General Assembly and sincerely advocates for peace and reconciliation between peoples, therefore it is the least we can expect from the president of friendly Serbia, who is otherwise a regular guest in our country,” stated Prime Minister Golob’s office.

The Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia, Tanja Fajon, called the words of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić insulting and unacceptable, which is why they decided to invite the Serbian charge d’affaires to defend them.

“We are asking for an explanation, an apology, that is not in the spirit of good neighborly and friendly relations,” she said, calling Vučić’s words untrue.

By the way, Vučić said on Tuesday that Serbia “fell into a trap” set for it by the USA, Switzerland and Slovenia.

“When the session of the Security Council was delayed, I wondered what it was about, but then we realized that they had agreed on it with the Americans, Slovenians and Swiss.” It is not known who is more disgusting, Slovenians or someone else,” said Vučić at the time.
