The Minister of Information and Telecommunications of Serbia, Mihailo Jovanović, today at the State Data Center in Kragujevac, presented the results of the Government of Serbia in the development of the information and communication sector and plans for investments in the most modern digital, telecommunications and innovative infrastructure as part of the “Leap” program to the head of the Delegation of the European Union in Serbia, Emanuel Joffreau. into the future – Serbia 2027″.

At the meeting were the mayor of Kragujevac Nikola Dašić, the ambassador of Italy Luka Gori, the ambassador of Slovakia Mihal Pavuk, the acting director of the Office for IT and eGovernment Milan Latinović and the director of Data Cloud Technology Danilo Savić.

“The innovation district in Kragujevac, whose construction is planned under the program ‘Leap into the future – Serbia 2027’, will represent a unique complex of information, innovative, creative and digital industries in Serbia and in the region, on 4.5 hectares. The idea is to become the epicenter of the gathering of young people, smart, talented and capable people who will have living and working conditions in their city that do not exist anywhere in Europe” – said Jovanović, his cabinet announced.

In the first phase, a building of 4,700 square meters and almost 10,000 square meters of garage is being built, and in the final phase, almost 62,000 square meters of work space and another 23,000 square meters of garage will be built.

“The district is conceived as a creative-innovative, digital center with special contents, where members of the IT community will be able to socialize and work, and it will be different in that it will be open to citizens and visitors, and therefore it is unique in Southeast Europe” – said Jovanovic.

He said that as part of the “Leap into the Future – Serbia 2027” program, further modernization and digitization is being done through the expansion of the State Data Center in Kragujevac by building “Block 2” with a capacity of 16 megawatts.

“The European Union is very focused on the digital transition, it is a revolution that is happening all over the world, in Europe and in Serbia, and we want to be with Serbia in implementing that revolution in the coming years,” said Ambassador Jofre.

He pointed out that Serbia is already part of the “Digital Europe” program and that it is in the initiative for high-performance computers, and now there is a Growth Plan that is there to increase the integration of the Western Balkans into the EU Single Market.

“Capacity strengthening and digitization will be a major priority of this Growth Plan,” Joffre said.
