Telekom Srbija sued the Tax Administration for a debt of 100 euros, and the Ministry of Defense for even less money – Economy

--

The largest telecommunications operator, Telekom Srbija, obviously thoroughly protects its business and sends debtors from whom it is impossible to collect claims to court. Only in April, according to the records in which it is Forbes Serbia had an insight, more than 50 lawsuits were brought before the courts, mostly against natural persons, and debt is cited as the basis of the dispute.

However, at the end of March, an interesting lawsuit appeared before the court, also for a debt.

Namely, before the Commercial Court in Belgrade, Telekom Srbija sued the Tax Administration of Serbia. And that for the amount of – 100 euros. More precisely, the available data show that the amount of the debt is 12,115 dinars.

Forbes Serbia tried to confirm this information from two sides, but neither Telekom Serbia nor the Tax Administration of Serbia answered our questions. Thus, we were deprived of information about the reason for the dispute, which is conducted under number 1250 in the Commercial Court in Belgrade, whether it is a telephone bill or a debt for some other service.

Telekom Srbija evidently has no problem to bring lawsuits against other state bodies.

An even more recent example is the lawsuit against the Ministry of Defense for a debt of 7,908 dinars. The Commercial Court received the case on April 10.

For the Ministry of Defense, this is not the only “confrontation” with Telekom in court this year. Another lawsuit against the same Ministry was filed at the end of January before the Commercial Court in Sremska Mitrovica. The basis is a debt of 318,000 dinars, and the defendant is the Morović Military Institution, and this is obviously a more serious procedure because it also includes economic and financial expertise.

And that’s not the end of the Ministry of Defense’s “relationship” with the telecommunications operator, because they were sued a few days before the end of last year for a debt of 8,182 dinars. However, after a few days, the lawsuit was withdrawn.

The Ministry of Defense is not the only ministry sued by Telekom. There is also the Department of Agriculture with several disputes. In August last year, the process was started with a lawsuit for a debt of two million dinars.

After the verdict, the State Attorney’s Office appealed, so this case also went to the Commercial Court of Appeal.

Judging by the available data, EPS is more often in a clinch with Telekom. The last lawsuit against the electrical company was initiated on April 2, for a debt of 2.64 million dinars.

The two parties “see each other” before the Commercial Court of Appeal, and at the end of March, this court took over the case of the Commercial Court in which a debt of 1.8 million dinars is disputed. In this case, the Kostolac Thermal Power Plant was sued last year, but due to an appeal against the verdict, the dispute continued before a higher instance.

At the end of March, the Commercial Appellate Court received another case between EPS and Telekom, in which a debt of 1.71 million dinars is disputed. Telekom sued Hydroelectric Power Plant Đerdap, but here the situation is different. The operator lost in the first instance, so they are facing an appeal due to Telekom’s appeal against the verdict.

EPS was also sued in November 2023 for a debt of 715,500 dinars, and this year it was resolved and the dispute started in July 2022, where Telekom sued Elektroprivreda Srbije for 4.27 million dinars.

Recently, the list of defendants included RFZO, JKP Infostan, the City of Bor and several health institutions.
