Belgrade has a better chance than others to become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council

--

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, said that Belgrade has a better chance of becoming a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council than the opposing candidates.

“It is still too early to talk about it, but in any case, we have a large number of friends in the UN and I am sure that we will pass if we run for office,” said Dacic for “Kosovo Online”.

Dacic, who is also the acting Prime Minister of Serbia, pointed out that it would certainly mean a lot to Serbia if it were elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, because that would strengthen its international position.

According to the long-term plan, which was made several years ago, it was foreseen, says Dacic, that Serbia will be a candidate in the next decade, but the situation can change.

He recalled that the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, had previously said that Serbia would first wait and see what would happen with the illegal resolution on Srebrenica.
