Sculptor Ivan Felker (74) from Niš died during the night as a result of the injuries he sustained in an accident in Milojka Lešjanina Street in that city, it was announced today.

The police department in Nis confirmed for the Beta agency that the accident happened yesterday around 7:00 a.m. and that the pedestrian, who was crossing the road, was hit by a car. “The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to the Emergency Center of the University Clinical Center in Nis.” The Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office was informed about the accident,” said the police.

Ivan Felker is one of the most famous Niš sculptures, the author of numerous works, the organizer of several independent exhibitions and a participant in many joint exhibitions, and for his work he won numerous awards and prizes.

The citizens of Niš remember him first of all as the author of the sculpture Stevan Sremac and his dog Chapa, and the “Puž” fountain in Chair Park.

Felker is the author of the monument to the Serbian soldier from the First World War on Mokra Gora, the sculpture “Marble and Sounds” in Arandjelovac and the sculpture “Double-Headed Eagle” in Soko Banja.

In the United States, he painted portraits of King Peter, Stevan Mokranjec, Vuk Karadžić, Mileva Marić, Milutin Milanković and Nadežda Petrović, and in Zurich he created a memorial plaque for Mileva Marić.
