The Green-Left Front today invited citizens to a protest on April 27 at noon, on the occasion of the announcement of the demolition of Hotel Yugoslavia.

As stated in the announcement, the Secretariat for Urban Planning and Construction Affairs of Belgrade announced a public inspection of the Draft Detailed Regulation Plan for block 11 and part of block 10 in the municipalities of Zemun and Novi Belgrade, where the Jugoslavija Hotel is located.

It is added that the draft envisages the possibility of demolishing Hotel Yugoslavia, building two towers up to 155 meters high and a complex that would cover 240,000 square meters and house 1,150 inhabitants.

“Before us is another plan that is adopted without consulting the citizens who live in the immediate environment and that will bring profit to individuals, without a single square meter of public use,” the announcement states.

Public inspection of the Draft lasts until May 20, and until then interested parties can submit comments.
