The Serbian national team member Nemanja Gudelj operated on the meniscus of his right knee this Thursday in Madrid and will be out for five to six weeks, his club Sevilla announced.
Gudelj (32) was injured in the match between Sevilla and Mallorca on Monday. The first forecasts were extremely bad and it was written that he will almost certainly miss the European Championship in Germany, but now some better news is coming.
An experienced midfielder, who also plays as a stopper when necessary, he performed a surgical procedure in Madrid. The rehabilitation period begins, and as they claim from Sevilla he will recover for five to six weeks. So, sometime by mid-June, at the latest.
That leaves the possibility of being a part of the Eagles at the European Championship (the first match is played on June 16 against England), although the question is to what extent he would be ready for matches at a high pace.
In the meantime, he will be visited in Spain by the doctor of the Serbian national team, Ilija Rosić, and through a conversation with Sevilla’s medical team, he will determine his exact condition.
Let us remind you that Gudelj already had knee surgery this season, but on the left. Just as he was getting back into rhythm, a problem appeared in his right knee.
