U World Happiness Report, it is stated that Serbia is the country with the biggest jump in the happiness index among the population in the period from 2010 to today. The report shows that, compared to previous years, there is a very rapid rise in the list of happiness, as evidenced by the ranking of countries, which shows that our country is in a higher position by 69 places.

On the list, Bulgaria, Latvia, Congo, Romania, China, Georgia, Lithuania, Philippines and Togo are ranked below Serbia.

According to the results of the report, which is published on the occasion of the International Day of Happiness, in the period between 2021 and 2023, Serbia recorded the biggest jump on the annual well-being barometer among 143 countries. Thus, the position of Serbia, compared to the previous reporting period (2006-2010), has been significantly improved.

When it comes to young people under 30, and their happiness, they have taken over third place on a global level. Ahead of us are Lithuania and Israel.

Nevertheless, the older population changes, that is, reduces the average in the general score, so Serbia, in the period from 2021 to 2023, occupies the 37th place on the list of the happiest countries. However, Serbia is the leader in the list of 12 Eastern European countries whose average happiness index has increased by 20 percent in the last decade.

A different ratio of happiness in the West

On the other hand, research shows that young people across North America and Western Europe are less happy than their parents. Thus, according to that criterion, the USA is no longer on the list of the 20 happiest. Young Britons are unhappier than young people in Moldova and El Salvador.

The over 60s in Great Britain are among the 20 happiest older generations in the world, and the USA is tenth according to that criterion.

Finland remained first on the list of the happiest countries in the world, where it has been for seven years, and Denmark, Iceland and Sweden also rank highly. Norway ranks seventh.
