In Serbia, in the first quarter, there were fewer births and deaths than a year ago

BELGRADE – In the first three months of this year, 14,523 children were born in Serbia, which is 403 or 2.7 percent less than in the same period last year when 14,926 babies were born, the Republic Institute of Statistics announced today.

The number of deaths is also lower, as 26,532 people died from January to March this year, compared to 26,685 in the first quarter of last year, i.e. 0.6 percent or 153 more than in the same period in 2024.
