Novi Knezevac – That it is never too late for love is proved by the story of Bosiljka Dević (82) and Siniša Veličković (86), who said the fateful yes in front of the registrar. They got married on Wednesday, in the Home Department of the Center for Social Work in Novi Kneževac, where they met and fell in love, but also found their second home.
Their life, they say, after many years of solitude, has meaning again. Now as a married couple, the Veličkovićs are enjoying their life together, attention and retirement days. Although they are in their ninth decade, their love, they say, just happened.
– I didn’t believe that a man in his ninth decade could fall in love. It’s the same as getting married for the first time – says the groom, while the bride adds that she fell head over heels in love and didn’t believe she could do it, but here, she says, it happened.
– Well, I liked him, and he liked me too. I was alone at home, so I came to the home. Everything started to make sense when Siniša arrived – adds Bosiljka.
They put wedding rings on each other’s hands and became spouses. Through a smile, they say that life has given them a new chance. As their years of experience tell them, they also had some advice for young people.
– Young people should get married, but the older ones should also spend their later days with someone. The most important thing is that love is sincere, that there are no false emotions – says Sinisa.
By the way, he is a native of Leskovac, lived and worked in Senta as a military person. He was widowed early. He spent his retirement days as a volunteer in the Senča Red Cross.
– It was not easy for me to make the decision to move to a home. I’ve been here for almost two years. Now I know that the doctor’s recommendation to do this was a godsend. I will have to honor my neuropsychiatrist – says the groom with a smile.
– This is where I met Bosa, we hung out and fell in love. It’s simple, there isn’t much philosophy when it comes to love – points out Sinisa.
Basil is originally from Doboj. Her life was marked by tragedies. She lost her son and her husband.
– In the old days, we need each other the most and we should help each other in good times and in bad times. Love only makes sense for two – says Bosa.
The groom’s roommate and best man, Vladimir Besermenyi, who met them, did not expect that everything would go too far.
– I came here a month before him and we became friends. When I met them, I could not have guessed that there would be a wedding. Believe me, I can’t recognize Sinisha, he’s in love like a teenager. I have grandchildren who are teenagers, but I have never seen someone reborn from love – says Bessermenji.
The manager of the Home Department of the Center for Social Work in Novi Kneževac, Ljubica Jolić, was the godmother of the newlyweds.
– This is the first wedding in the home, but hopefully not the only one. We made sure that two of our users remember this act and we organize everything from the registrar, music, lunch, wedding rings – says Jolić.
The registrar, Aleksandra Matejin, was also surprised by this wedding, who says that in practice she has not experienced marrying newlyweds in the ninth decade.
– I wish them a lot of love and understanding in their marriage, wish them luck – said the registrar at the end of the ceremony.
It was an emotional wedding, so some people had tears of joy in their eyes. They have chosen their own path, and we wish them the best of luck.
