NEW YORK – Serbia, along with 16 other countries, has called for the immediate release of all hostages that Hamas has been holding in Gaza for more than 200 days, including citizens of our countries, the office of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced today.
Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Spain, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States stated in a joint statement that “the fate of the hostages and the civilian population in Gaza , which are protected by international law, causes concern of the international community”.
“We emphasize that the agreement on the release of the hostages would bring about an immediate and prolonged ceasefire in Gaza, which would allow the delivery of additional necessary humanitarian aid to be delivered throughout Gaza and lead to a reliable end to hostilities,” the statement said, as announced by the Cooperation Service. with the media of President Vučić.
Serbia and 16 countries state that, in that case, “inhabitants of Gaza could return to their homes and properties with previously made preparations for providing shelter and humanitarian aid.”
“We strongly support the ongoing mediation efforts to bring our people home. We repeat the call to Hamas to release the hostages and allow us to end this crisis, so that we can jointly focus our efforts on establishing peace and stability in the region”, states the joint call of Serbia and 16 countries.
