Average salary in Novi Sad fell, but still above 100,000: Is it realistic?

--

With taxes and contributions, residents of Novi Sad earned more than 150 thousand dinars, according to the data of the Republic Institute of Statistics.

Compared to January, the incomes of residents of Novi Sad were lower by around 2,000 dinarsthus continuing the trend of lower wages after the holidays, since January’s wages were as much lower than February’s.

In the Juznoba district, the lowest average salary was in Bač, and it was only 71,534 dinars, excluding taxes and contributions. The average salary in Bač thus did not even reach the average net salary in Serbia, which was in February 72,956 dinars.

According to the data of the Republic Institute of Statistics published today, the average gross salary in Serbia in February was 129,934 dinars, while the net salary was 94,125 dinars.

Median salary, ie that received by half of the employees in the state, is also lower than in January, when it was 74,000 dinars. Now this income is about one thousand dinars lower.

Salaries in Serbia are still the highest in Belgrade, where citizens earn, depending on the municipality, an average of 120,000 dinars, excluding taxes and contributions. And Novi Sad is at the top when it comes to the amount of income.

On the other hand, the average net salary in Vojvodina amounts to slightly less than 89 thousand dinars.

The municipalities with the lowest incomes are Mali Iđoš, Kanjiža, Srbobran, Bač, Kovačica and Bela Crkva.

Salaries in the public sector are still “held”, where employees earn on average slightly less than 100 thousand dinars per month, while the average for the private sector is around 92 thousand dinars. Those who are employed outside the employment relationship earn only slightly less than 57 thousand dinars per month.

In the public sector, employees in public state enterprises earn over 100,000 per month, while the worst situation is in education and culture, where the average salary is around 92,000.

It should be borne in mind that the average salary gives only a general and not very realistic representation of the economic situation. It is the medial, i.e. real, salary that gives a clearer picture and provides a better insight into how much the average individual in society actually earns.

Average prices are also an important factor, which rarely stagnate in recent months. Looking at February, the month to which the latest data on average earnings refer, we can see that prices were higher by 0.6 percent compared to January. Compared to the same month last year, consumer prices were higher by almost six percent.
