Dolores from Novi Sad for “Blic” about the attack on her younger brother

Dolores G. from Novi Sad, the sister of the young man who was beaten on April 23 in Novi Sad, spoke to “Blic” and explained the condition of her brother, as well as how the attack took place.

– My brother was walking along the Boulevard and talking to a friend from Canada via video call. 15-20 of them intercepted him, thinking that he must have photographed them or who knows. He told them openly what he was doing on the phone, that he didn’t take photos of them, and held out the phone for them to see for themselves. But they had already started grabbing him and hitting him – begins the story for “Blic” Dolores from Novi Sad.

As he further states, the attack took place around 8 – 8:30 p.m., in Gagarinova street, in Novi Sad, while her brother suffered serious bodily injuries.

“Only he called the police”

– The brother managed to slip away and run away, but the six of them caught him while he was running across the Boulevard – when they started kicking him and hitting him on the head. People were passing by and no one stopped to help, except for one man who saw that something was wrong. He was the only one who called the police – adds Dolores.

After the police were called, the young men continued their vicious attack, while the beaten young man shouted for them to take the phone and look, as well as to he does not understand why he is being beaten.

– One of them took his phone and looked, he made sure there were no photos or videos of them, but he had already been beaten – adds.

“The brother is kept in the hospital”

As Dolores said in her appeal video, her brother was kept in the hospital after the attack, while he can’t see in one eye right now because of the blood.

– The brother’s stay in the hospital was prolonged due to a fractured skull and bleeding in the eye. He also received stitches on his cheek, because they cut the skin under his eye. We have nothing to do with anyone, we just came back from Canada, and my brother has no contact with anyone. He doesn’t even know who the young men who beat him are – concludes Dolores for “Blic”.

The case was reported to the police, while Dolores adds that “her brother is in terrible pain and is scared because of everything that happened” because it all happened in a part of the city they know.
