An open letter to the citizens of Belgrade – Personal views

--

It is, of course, about the upcoming elections in Belgrade and other cities in Serbia, towards which individual opposition parties relate in a different, and I must admit, unclear way to me.

But before I continue to write about it and say something else that has confused me in the last few days, here are a few words that I hope will explain this, whichever way you look at it, pretentious or at least immodest gesture or at least immodest title.

So, in the old days, my friend used to visit my wife and I after midnight and after several rounds of drinks, he would ask to call “the people” while I was ironing diapers so that they would be ready tomorrow for our daughter. “I want to call the people!”.

You guessed that we were talking about the politics that, here, has been bothering us for over thirty years, not giving us respite and the opportunity to imagine ourselves and create a life in accordance with the universal human values on which society and the state are based.

But is it politics that really bothers me in this country that is already completely devastated and freed from any sense.

It bothers me, in fact, that thievery, recklessness, insolence, arrogance, crime, mafia order, psychopathology of individuals along with ubiquitous immorality are declared politics.

And that’s not the biggest problem, because it’s an imposed order of distorted values that would have dried up long ago if there wasn’t a great adaptability and a great degree of getting used to the twisted value system.

He scheduled the immune system of society, and the question is whether it was ever fully established.

A lie, and a targeted lie, is a characteristic of those who understand the government as a prey that they will defend by destroying the social fabric until their last breath.

In these conditions, to oppose this fascist regime, a (necessary) broad front of democratic political subjects, eminent persons, universities, trade unions, NGOs and citizens is needed, who will reverse the policy of this country, which is destroying us on the international stage and selling off natural resources and economic capacities. defending “national interests”, while at home he carries out violence and robbery.

That’s why the events of the last few days confused me and still do.

I am referring to the split, or more precisely, the abolition of the “Serbia against violence” coalition, right before the elections in Belgrade and other cities and municipalities.

I think that the credit for that coalition and the relative (considerable) success they achieved in the last elections also belongs to us citizens who, with our persistence after the tragedy in “Ribnikar”, showed the opposition political parties and movements where there was a way out and simply convinced them to unite.

It is unclear why we, the small shareholders, squandered the capital that should have been at our disposal so seemingly easily.

One can, of course, speculate about the clash of vanities, “an offer that cannot be refused” and similar facile and often incorrect assumptions. Also, the inconsistencies in the treatment of the citizens of Belgrade by the parties calling for a boycott are offensive to us Belgraders who are treated as less valuable.

Are there councilors in Vračar, Voždovac, New Belgrade… that is irrelevant, but they are important, for example, in Čačak or some other place in Serbia.

I will remind you that it was the people of Belgrade who carried the spirit of protest even during the time of the criminal Milošević, and to this day, and that SPN owes the greatest extent to the people of Belgrade for raising hopes and expectations for the arrival of freedom throughout Serbia.

It should have happened, but it didn’t happen. It was necessary to adapt to the majority with, of course, necessary compromises from both sides, because that is one of the characteristics of democracy.

It seems that the “Živorad” syndrome is at work – if you don’t get everything, then you got nothing, and there’s always nothing. Nevertheless, here is a message for you, dear fellow citizens and compatriots.

It’s time for a lesson again, I’m sure you haven’t changed your mind and that this order from bad to worse doesn’t suit you. So, in accordance with that, en masse to the elections.

There is no cure for it, and it will be a lesson for everyone.

To victory!
