The opposition for Danas on whether SNS plans to “speed up” the parliamentary session on the occasion of the election of a new government: We will be there and use every minute – Elections 2024

--

The Government of Serbia will be elected within the legal deadline, Ana Brnabić told N1, without specifying whether this will be the case before or after the May Day and Easter holidays. The deadline for appointing a new Government composition expires on May 6.

News, however, published unofficial information that the session of the Assembly of Serbia at which the new government will be elected should begin on April 29 or 30, that there will be no change in the structure of the cabinet, the number of departments will remain the same and therefore the Law on Ministries will not be changed .

News have also announced that the session of the Presidency of the Serbian Progressive Party will be held on Sunday, April 28, when, allegedly, Miloš Vučević, the mandate holder for the composition of the new government and the president of the SNS, will announce the names of the new ministers.

Even the regime media and tabloids have almost no information about the names of who will occupy which ministerial position, so the speculations are very sketchy and in many cases contradictory.

Danas interlocutors from the ranks of the opposition say that they will attend the session of the Assembly where the composition of the new government will be chosen, both from the so-called boycotting opposition and from parts of the opposition that is going to the elections.

They also agree that there will be no change of the Law on Ministries they assume the regime’s attempt to avoid discussions with the opposition in the Parliament, ahead of the June elections.

Zdravko Ponoš, Member of Parliament and leader of SRCE, tells Danas that he will participate in the parliamentary session dedicated to electing the composition of the new government.

– Of course we will participate. The session of the Assembly where the government is elected is very important. The representative will come out with the composition of the cabinet and with the exposition. Both deserve attention and consideration – points out Zdravko Ponoš.

As he adds, it is clear that SNS intends to speed things up – because of this, the number of ministries will not change, and neither will the law.

– On the other hand, it will certainly be a government of continuity of the personal power of Aleksandar Vučić, so it is not particularly important how many ministries there are and who the ministers are – he concludes.

No one is surprised that the SNS is canceling the debate in the National Assembly in this campaign as well, believes Peđa Mitrović, MP of the Freedom and Justice Party.

– They are doing everything to prevent the citizens of Serbia from hearing the truth about the situation in the country, that they did not accept any of the opposition’s demands in order to conduct at least minimally fair elections, that they did not implement any of the priority recommendations of the ODIHR, that they want to avoid criticism that in such a crisis we have a technical government that works without any control for four whole months without any legitimacy, just as these so-called elections have no legitimacy either – says Mitrović for Danas.

According to him, their anti-state manner of treating every institution of the country that should work in the interest of all citizens of Serbia as their local board is dangerous for the future of Serbia.

– One party, SNS, decides on everything that happens in the country, guided only by the interest of its leadership. The SSP will attend the session and, as always, uncompromisingly, principled and argumentatively criticize the ruling majority for the accumulated problems and the disintegration of the country. Let them get ready, it won’t be easy for them – concludes the SSP deputy.

Radomir Lazović, deputy and co-president of the Green-Left Front, tells Danas that the election of a new government is one of the most important sessions of the year.

– And we will use every minute, even every second, to explain to the citizens that the new SNS Government represents the continuation of harmful policies that have devastated our society. The Green-Left Front is one of the most active parliamentary groups in the Parliament, which is in line with our concept of fighting both in institutions and on the street and everywhere where the public interest is threatened – says Lazović.

Today, Serbia is a country with one of the biggest economic inequalities in Europe, he further points out.

– A team close to SNS has grabbed huge wealth, and the vast majority of citizens are fighting for existence. Food prices have been skyrocketing for years. An average salary cannot buy an average consumer basket, and you cannot live on a minimum wage. On the other hand, over 15,000 people die annually as a result of air pollution, and a third of Vojvodina does not have drinking water, and 40% of citizens do not have sewage. During the SNS rule, around 400,000 citizens, mostly young people, moved away, and the public debt more than doubled. The new government will only continue everything that led to such devastating data, and the latest megalomaniac EXPO fraud and the purchase of weapons will further burden us – he believes.

As he adds, “when we fight for better election conditions and against theft in elections, we have to understand that we are actually fighting to fix this gloomy state in our country.”

– Citizens want changes, they want to be able to live off their work, not to fear for the safety of children, not to hide from untouchable criminals on the street. That’s why we choose to fight and we will oppose SNS in all places, we will fight for every municipality, city, street or local community. We will not leave anything to the SNS without a fight – concludes Radomir Lazović.
