WHITE CITY –
The Director of the Republic Institute of Statistics, Miladin Kovačević, said today that the text of Danas, “Belgrade has a minimum of 230,000 non-existent voters”, which was published on various portals, presented incorrect interpretations of the data, because it is about different data – from the census and from the voter list .

Kovačević stated in the statement that according to the results of the 2022 census, Serbia has 6,647,003 inhabitants, while according to the last publicly announced cut-off used for the parliamentary elections in December 2023, there are 5,500,666 voters in Serbia, as if in Belgrade according to the 2022 census. has 1,681,405 inhabitants and 1,605,887 voters.

He explained that the census deals with the concept of the present population of all ages, and that the voter list includes everyone who has the right to vote in Serbia, i.e. citizens over the age of 18, which includes those who reside in Serbia and reside abroad – regardless whether they are present in the country.
