Doctor Vesna Turkulov, the holder of the SNS list in Novi Sad, was linked by the media to affairs – Politika

As reported by the local portal 021, Vesna Turkulov came into the public eye after accusations that during the covid pandemic there was a department for so-called “VIP patients” who were treated at the Clinical Center of Vojvodina (KCV), despite the fact that a specialized covid hospital was opened.

Portal 021 stated that the affair was caused by a conflict between two currents in SNS, one that supported KCV director Edita Stokić, who was close to the then provincial prime minister Igor Mirović, and the current of the then mayor of Novi Sad, Miloš Vučević, who “stood by” Turkolov. .

Turkulov was then dismissed from the position of manager of the Infectious Clinic.

After her removal, the Bač diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church protested about it.

Archpriest Vladan Simić stated on the Diocese’s website that “the feast of arrogance and unscrupulousness, falsification of documents continues” and, as he wrote, “initiation of staged disciplinary proceedings”.

He accused the Provincial Government and the administration of the Clinical Center of “reckless pursuit” of Vesna Turkulov.

“If the whole matter does not soon receive the only possible reasonable and fair epilogue, we, ordinary citizens and grateful patients of Dr. Vesna Turkulov, have no choice but to gather in some public place and support our dear Dr. Vesna together, and from those who abused their positions, let’s ask for their resignations,” the Diocese’s appeal read.

In 2021, Vesna Turkulov was honored by the decision of the Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church, by Patriarch Porfiri personally, and at the suggestion of Bishop Irinej of Bač, and she was also the godmother of the city’s glory.

Her academic career developed at the Faculty of Medicine in Novi Sad, where she graduated and where she is now a full professor.
