“In December 2019, the Directorate for Building Land and Construction of Belgrade received the conceptual design of the bridge on Ada Huja, which, including VAT, was paid for around 735,000 euros, but until today nothing has been done,” said Nikola Jovanović, director of the Center for local self-government and former city councilor.
– If the authorities had immediately announced a tender for the construction permit project and started collecting other permits and approvals, today the bridge on Ada Huja would already be well under construction. And as it was written in the conceptual project that the construction of the bridge itself would take up to three years, it is very likely that the bridge would already be in the final stage of construction today, and completed at the beginning of 2025 – Jovanović pointed out.
– With the completion of the construction of the bridge on Ada Huja, motor vehicle traffic from the Pančevački bridge, which is normally about 2.6 kilometers upstream, would be diverted to it, and then the serious and detailed reconstruction of the Pančevački bridge, which is announced and waiting, could finally be started more than 10 years – explains the director of CLS and concludes:
– This is how someone “stole” the bridge on Ada Huja from the citizens of Belgrade, and the witnesses of the “theft” are all the citizens who suffer daily traffic jams on Pančevac, which is otherwise in a difficult condition and overloaded.
