The situation regarding the draft resolution on Srebrenica is not simple, there is still a lot of work left, let us try and fight to get out of this situation with our heads held high and dedicate ourselves to progress, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said yesterday in New York. At the end of the visit, the President said that he believes that people are aware that no matter how they vote, they know that this has nothing to do with justice and international law, but geopolitical relations. “It is up to us to protect our own interests.” It’s good that we spent a lot of time here,” Vučić told reporters and added that the Serbian ambassador to the US, Marko Đurić, will stay in New York until May 2 in order to talk to countries with which he has not spoken.

According to his words, Đurić will have meetings with representatives of 20 countries, primarily from the Pacific region that they failed to reach, from Palau to Papua New Guinea. “There is a lot of work left, to try to fight, to come out of everything with our heads held high, upright, and dedicate ourselves to the further progress of Serbia,” said Vučić. “Thank you to the team that worked hard and to all those who fight for Serbia, for whom it is a job and for whom it is not”, said Vučić and added that the bilateral meetings are continuing.

As he said, during the night between Wednesday and Thursday, Serbia had meetings with the representatives of five European countries, which, as he says, he considers to be friendly, to not vote as ordered. “We will continue to work and as soon as we return to Belgrade, I will make a plan for our return or how to act in Belgrade,” said Vučić with the message that he wants to invite the permanent representatives in Belgrade, African, Asian and Pacific countries and present their views once again. “It’s not enough to just say we talked to someone and they have a positive attitude.” That’s not enough, what does that mean? We caused a lot of nervousness here for many people, from their journalists to politicians. “Someone said from the Asian representatives that the UN has never been in such a mess and that they do not know what is happening before the resolution is voted on May 2,” said the President of Serbia.

“We managed to complicate things, but we are aware that we cannot win.” America raised an eyebrow, then the others jumped to vote. But, to be fair, they were not the ringleaders, the main role was taken by the Germans and they are the ones who directly lead the campaign in the UN and outside of all their partners”, stressed Vučić. He added that they said that they would not postpone the vote and that the Germans and BiH were clear about that. “Once upon a time, we, fair countries, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan would be fiercely against us. But they understand the geopolitical situation now,” said Vučić. He pointed out that it is a big game and that everything is boiling in the UN.

He added that there should also be a meeting with the Organization of the Islamic Conference. “We’ve already seen them all, but it’s good to confirm one more time,” added Vučić. Yesterday morning, as he said, he had meetings with several other world leaders, whom he asked for support and help. He repeated that now everything is boiling like a beehive and that Serbia is doing more than what is realistic. He added that the Americans and Germans met in Austria and counted the votes and made a pressure list. He pointed out that “BiH does not have a position, but only one part of the country”.

“It is ours to fight.” The one who expects us to beat America, Germany, England… It would be easier for us if the topic was Kosovo. We are not as small as we think we are,” said Vučić. As he pointed out, they found the most painful topic for us, and if there had been a statement about Kosovo, it would have been much easier for us. Vučić also spoke about the entry of raped women. He stated that they made an agreement with the English and the Americans and “went in nicely”. According to him, someone who was conscientious did not want to let them go, but then a phone call followed.

“Just think where he could have come from.” Then Vyosa lied that they were members of the cabinet, but they were not. Everything is like that for you – lie after lie”, said Vučić. As he says, the EU has launched a mechanism to lift sanctions on Pristina, which we have not even seen. “Look at that disgusting trick. The Albanians make an illegal decision, and then when the Serbs do not agree to it, they say there is no readiness for compromise and agreement. You stop and do not believe. Jump off the building or keep going – I choose the latter. I have no words for how rude it is,” said Vučić.

He emphasized that a small country has been fighting for its freedom and territory for 16 years. “Whenever there is something in our region, whenever you won’t accept someone’s blackmail, you are a factor of destabilization. Whenever you are willing to protect the interests of your people, you are a problem. I am their biggest problem, because I don’t allow the Serbs to be trampled on,” said Vučić and added that the bottom line is that “they are capable of violating Dayton in the most terrible way, and the Americans know it,” and that is why they let the Germans go, because they don’t really care about that. He stated that the Americans know that this is a violation of Dayton because, he added, you have to have the consent of all three nations. “You don’t have it and they know it.” Of course, they don’t really care, but they will say – we didn’t do anything or interfere. When you tell them that, they put headlines everywhere: ‘Dangerous threats from Vučić: He says Dayton is being trampled on,'” said the President of Serbia. He judged that no matter what we do, unless we repeat their vomit about our own kind, we will always be bad.

“And if we were to give up the Serbian name and surname, Republika Srpska, Kosovo, independence, I would get three Nobel Prizes, I would be beautiful and smart if I did that,” said Vučić. When asked to comment on the statement of the leader of the Movement of Free Citizens, Pavle Grbović, that the resolution on Srebrenica should be accepted, Vučić said that everyone has the right to an opinion and a political position. “They think that Serbia should recognize the so-called Kosovo, they think that Serbia should accept the resolution on genocide without a fight. We don’t think so. “Let the people judge who better protects their interests,” said Vučić. He assessed that there are many people in Serbia who cheer against their country and that this is not a phenomenon from yesterday, that it has been like this for decades. They were made, as he states, by the so-called leaders, people who should protect other people’s values, not their own people. He pointed out that we are not as small as we sometimes think of ourselves.

Asked to comment on the allegations that part of the opposition will boycott the elections, Vučić said that he had not read anything about it and that he did not know who would vote in the elections, adding that people in Serbia are interested in other things. “Whoever wants to come out, who doesn’t – doesn’t have to.” People are interested in whether they can receive their salary and pension before the holidays, people are interested in what is new that we will bring to the country in the future, what we will bring to the Expo”, said Vučić. He added that people are interested in whether we will preserve our national pride, how our country will react to the pressures. “Almost nobody thinks about what else is going on,” said Vučić. He added that parties serve to animate the public and wished them success in this. As he said, the citizens will choose those who guarantee progress and hard and serious work. “I will get involved at some point, but before May 10 or 16 I don’t think so.” I have much more important work than party issues”, concluded Vučić.
