Architecture students from Belgrade on Stara Planina, are making projects for the revival of the sleeping villages of Stara Planina

--

Students of the Faculty of Architecture from Belgrade will be staying on Stara planina, more precisely in the village of Pokrevenik, where they will work on projects for the reconstruction of publicly owned buildings in the villages of Pokrivštica, Dobri Do and Nišor. The students have already done projects for the village of Pokrevenik, and now they will present them to the president of the Pokrevenik Municipality, Slavoljub Kostadinović.According to Kostadinović, the work and effort put in by the architecture students led by their professor Danijela Milovanović Rodić is of immeasurable importance for the old mountain villages with mostly elderly people.

– They already stayed in Pokrevenik last summer when they started developing projects in public property such as a clinic, an old dairy, a youth center. Now the projects are finished and this is of great importance for us considering how much it costs to create the projects and that with these projects we will be able to apply for funds to gradually restore these facilities. The students will be stationed in Pokrevenik, but this time they will work on filming and creating projects for public facilities in the villages of Koprivštica, Nišor and Dobri Do, so these villages will also receive projects. Also, during their stay, the students will educate the local population about the importance of preserving architecture, cultural heritage, the development of rural tourism and the possibilities that are offered when it comes to the preservation of old mountain villages, says Kostadinović.
