Published details of the first anniversary of the tragedy in “Ribnikar”

The multidisciplinary team in charge of establishing the Memorial Center at the “Vladislav Ribnikar” school announced the details of the first anniversary of the mass shooting in which nine students and a security guard of the school lost their lives. We also remember those killed in the villages around Smederevo and Mladenovac.

On Friday, May 3, 2024, in Belgrade, with a program called “Awakening”, the first anniversary of the mass murder in the “Vladislav Ribnikar” elementary school will be marked. Commemorative Day marks the beginning of a multi-layered process of memorialization. It consists of a spatial-artistic installation that enables dignified delivery of mail to victims at the scene of the crime, a Forum that is an invitation to citizens to jointly critically reflect on the causes and consequences of mass murder, and a final music-stage program, as an expression of collective grief and the beginning of building relationships of trust and connection among citizens Serbia.

The media will interrupt the program

The program will take place according to the following schedule:

U 8.40, in Kralja Milutina Street 10, where the mass murder was committed, the families of the murdered, relatives, friends and citizens who need to express solidarity and empathy will gather.

U 8.41on May 3, 2024, the media in Serbia will observe a minute of silence by interrupting the program, as well as on May 4, 2024, at 10:32 p.m., in memory of the victims from Mali Orašje and Dubona.

In the period from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., in the area near the monument to Desanka Maksimović in Tašmajdan, a Forum will be organized in which citizens will talk with representatives of the Multidisciplinary Team about issues related to the causes and consequences of mass murders on May 3 and 4, 2023. In the Forum area a message box will be available, as well as QR codes that will allow citizens to share their thoughts and suggestions, which will be important material to be used in the process of developing ideas about the future Memorial Center.

From 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., a video collage of memories of Bojana, Ana, Katarina, Mara, Emma, ​​Sofia, Andrija, Adriana, Angelina and Dragan.

End of the program on Taš

At 20:00, the final music and stage program will begin in the Tašmajdan park with a direct television broadcast by the Radio and Television of Serbia, so that the citizens will unite in common memory and mourning and send messages of empathy and solidarity.

The commemoration program was created in cooperation with the close council of the Multidisciplinary Team for the establishment of the Memorial Center in memory of the victims of the mass murder on May 3, 2023 in Belgrade and the families of the victims, with the support of representatives of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the City of Belgrade, who are united in the Working Group for the establishment of the Memorial Center in memory of the victims of the mass murder at the “Vladislav Ribnikar” Experimental Elementary School in Belgrade, according to the announcement.

The spatial-artistic installation at Kralja Milutina Street 10, as a symbol of shared memory, will remain in the public space until the start of work on the establishment of the Memorial Center. Citizens will be able to lay flowers, light candles and write in the memory books.

In “Vladislav Ribnikar” elementary school in Belgrade, on May 3, 2023, the following were killed: Bojana Asović (11), Ana Božović (11), Katarina Martinović (12), Mara Anđelković (13), Ema Kobiljski (13), Sofija Negić ( 13), Andrija Čikić (14), Adriana Dukić (14), Angelina Aćimović (14) and Dragan Vlahović (53). 6 people were wounded.

In Dubona and Mali Orašje, on May 4, 2023, the following were killed: Nikola Milić (14), Aleksandar Milovanović (17), Marko Mitrović (17), Kristina (18) and Milan Panić (22), Lazar Milovanović (19), Nemanja Stevanović (21), Dalibor Todorović (24) and Petar Mitrović (25). 12 people were wounded.
