The session, which, as reported by the Pristina media, lasted a short time, contained only one item on the agenda – the training of municipal offices for work.

Zećiri himself confirmed that this was the reason why this session was called urgently.

“Ahead of us is the task of making the facility operational. The item on the agenda was the formation of a commission for access to the facility. That was actually the main reason that we urgently convened the session. We have a lot of work to do. We will start working to make the facility functional, to make it functional. We worked from several offices, there is still a problem with water here, but that does not mean that we will not work from the office here as soon as possible,” said Mayor Zećiri after the session in the Municipal Assembly, reports RTK.

Although not all councilors were present, i.e. 11 out of 19, the quorum for holding this session was met.

From April last year, until today, the sessions of this local self-government were held in the village of Čabra, in the relocated offices from which Zećiri himself performed his duties.

On Sunday, a referendum was held for his removal, which was produced by petitions signed by Serbs, who nevertheless, like last year’s elections, eventually boycotted the process.

The first statements of Kosovo officials after the failed referendum were that now the way is actually open for Zećira, as well as the other two (in Zvečan and Leposavic), to start performing their duties from the main municipal offices.

The arrival of the mayor and this first session was announced last night by the Kosovo Minister of Administration and Local Self-Government, Eljbert Krasnići, but Zećiri, as well as the president of the Assembly of this municipality, were not informed about it. However, they confirmed that, if they receive an urgent call, they will go to the municipality.

On Tuesday, the session will also be held in the municipality of Zvečan

The Deputy Minister of Local Self-Government, Arber Vokri, today once again confirmed that the same session will be held in the municipality of Zvečan, on Tuesday, and that then the local mayor, Iljir Peci, will come to the municipality, Koch reported today.

He also said that the relocation of some directorates has started in Zvečan and that he expects the whole process to be completed during the next week.

Peci performs his duties from an alternative office in the village of Lipa.

The mayors of these two municipalities visited the Oština facilities for the first time on May 26 last year, a day after they took their oaths in the newly relocated offices.

Their arrival was secured by strong forces of the Kosovo Police, including special units. The riots that broke out that day in front of these buildings escalated three days later – with a clash in Zvečan between the gathered Serbs who were protesting the arrival of these mayors and members of KFOR. There were dozens of injured on both sides.

Since then, and at the request of the international community, Peci and Zećiri performed their functions from alternative offices.

Unlike them, Ljuljzim Hetemi, as claimed by the media, did not leave the municipal building in Leposavic, despite the demands of the international community, for months after the aforementioned conflict.

And the one in North Mitrovica, Erden Atić, has been in the municipality’s premises since the first day.
