The Faculty of Civil Engineering in Subotica celebrated half a century of existence

Yesterday, half a century of the Faculty of Civil Engineering’s existence was marked in the Great Hall of the City Hall.

For 50 years of existence as part of the University of Novi Sad, the Faculty of Civil Engineering Subotica has grown into a modern educational and scientific institution, with classes in Serbian and partly in Hungarian, and has excellent cooperation with all relevant institutions, both in the city and in the country. abroad.

The guests were greeted by the dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, prof. Dr. Milan Trifković, who recalled the history of this higher education institution and pointed out that as of today, the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Subotica has 2,395 graduate students, 692 masters and 22 PhDs.

“This is the time when the penetration of science, technology and technological achievements totally changed every pore of our society, thus it also entered construction and geodesy. “We try to respond to the demands of society and the social community, to adapt our plans and programs to the new trend and to follow modern technologies and modern instruments,” said prof. Dr. Milan Trifković.

Rector of the University of Novi Sad, prof. Dr. Dejan Madić, gave an appropriate speech, as well as the state secretary in the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Emeše Lalić Urban, and the state secretary in the Ministry of Education, prof. Dr. Marijana Dukić Mijatović. Dr. Dejan Madić pointed out that the Faculty of Civil Engineering has always responded to the needs of the profession in the city, stressing that it will advocate for the expansion of educational fields.

The ceremonial academy was attended by representatives of the city, the province and the republic, and the mayor of Subotica, Stevan Bakić, pointed out that construction is as old as the human race, that throughout history civilizations arose and disappeared, but visible traces of their existence remained, such as pyramids, Greek temples, Chinese walls, connecting bridges.

The ceremonial academy on the occasion of 50 years of existence and work of the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Subotica will be rounded off by the traditional, ninth international conference entitled “Contemporary achievements in construction 2024”, which again this year gathered the academic community and leading representatives of this profession with the aim of summarizing the previous results and achievements in this field – it was announced today at the ceremonial academy of the great jubilee.
