The Kosovo police confirmed that security cameras are planned to be installed in three locations in North Mitrovica, for, as they stated, “surveillance and safety of citizens.”
“After Kurti failed to record Serbs at the polling stations and by misusing those recordings he oppressed and harassed the Serbian people, now he went a step further and decided to film all citizens and even minors and children on the streets of our cities, as if we were part of some kind of reality program”, reads the press release of the Serbian List.
They note that the installation of cameras has no legal basis, as well as no answer to what the recordings are, who controls them and who has ever asked citizens for their opinion on this topic.
“Serbs in the north of Kosovo and Metohija are crammed into their own ghetto in the 21st century on European soil. We wonder who has the right to threaten the privacy of our citizens and where did anyone get the right to film our children? The fact that someone wears a uniform or has power in his hands does not give him the right to do what he wants and violates the basic rights of the Serbian people,” the statement said.
“We expect that in the coming days, Kurti’s regime will order Serbs to wear yellow armbands, and thus once again show the character of their government so that Serbs would be distinguished from citizens of other nationalities in those videos as well,” they added.
From the Serbian list, they demand the immediate removal of cameras and the protection of citizens’ privacy, as well as the reaction of the Quinte countries and international missions, primarily EULEX, UNMIK, KFOR and the Office of the European Union in Pristina.
