“Synchro BOOK Club” reading clubs for children and adults in Sremska Mitrovica

--

The organization for the promotion and affirmation of literature, art and culture Synchro MOZAIK and the Portal for literature and reading culture Synchro launched reading clubs for children and adults – Synchro BOOK Club.

The goal of reading clubs is to bring books back into everyday life, to gather people with similar interests who will discuss and exchange their views and impressions about the work they have read in a mutual dialogue, as well as to motivate them to continue reading books in a friendly atmosphere.

The children’s reading club started working in the previous months. The first book discussed and which awakened many feelings and interests among the youngest was Jasminka Petrović’s It’s Hard Not to Love Me. The topic of the second reading club was the novel Sand Wolf by the Scandinavian author Osa Lind. The third reading club for children was held last Thursday, and it was dedicated to the book Tom Gates – My Perfect World by Liz Pichon. Discussing this primarily entertaining book, they touched on the concept of identification, talked about how this book differs from those that are required reading, and analyzed the characters of Tom and his family.

From this spring, Synchro BOOK Club opens its doors to adults as well, regardless of age. The aim of the reading club for adults is to interpret a certain literary work through mutual exchange of impressions and attitudes and to come to certain conclusions about the world that surrounds us, which we get to know through literature and art, in an inspiring environment. The first book that will be the topic of the reading club for adults is The Unbearable Lightness of Existence by Milan Kundera.

Many scientific studies have confirmed that reading books has a positive effect on the mind and body, as well as that this activity makes us happy and relaxed. However, even though more people are reading today than ever before, books are the least read. During the day, we read countless pieces of information that we don’t know what to do with, and we naturally ask the question whether such reading, which is a consequence of a fast-paced lifestyle, brings peace and satisfaction, or arouses completely different emotions than books do. If you like to read but you need motivation, you want to exchange your impressions of the book and opinions with others and participate in a different conversation, or you think that it would be useful and good for your child to adopt the habit of reading and socialize with peers through a dialogue about book, don’t miss the opportunity to join the community of literature lovers.

Reading clubs are held once a month in the Synchro MOZAIK studio, and through the Portal for literature and reading culture Synchro.rs, all interested parties will be informed about the exact dates of the events.
