Sombor – The National Theater in Sombor has announced the program of the 32nd Theater Marathon, which will last from June 5 to 8 this year under the slogan “This city would be nothing if it didn’t have a theater.” This is the sentence that the poet Duško Trifunović uttered at the first Theater Marathon and as if he predicted the great future of this favorite theater show.
During the four “marathon” days, 15 performances will be performed, two of which are for children, a concert will be held and two exhibitions will be organized. Theaters from the country and the region, from Croatia, Republika Srpska, and Montenegro come as guests to the theater in Sombor.
The opening of the Theater Marathon is on June 5 at 7 p.m. and will be officially opened by actress Branka Petrić. The first performance in the repertoire is “Oedipus” directed by Vito Taufer and performed by the ensemble of the Yugoslav Drama Theater from Belgrade. In the following days, the audience will have the opportunity to see performances by the Vuk Theater, the “Kerempuh” Satirical Theater from Zagreb, the City Theater Čačak, the Serbian National Theater, the BITEF Theater, the “Promena” Theater, the Kruševac Theater, the Zvezdara Theater, the Rugatino Theater from Zagreb, the National Theater ” Toša Jovanović” from Zrenjnain, and the “Boško Buha” Theater, Atelier 212, the Royal Theater “Zetski dom” from Cetinje.
According to tradition, the last performance of the theater marathon is the host performance, and this year, on June 8, at midnight, the play “Radovan the Third” directed by Vito Taufer, co-produced by the National Theater in Sombor and the “Grad Teatra” Budva, will be performed. After that, at the closing of the festival, the actors shower the audience with flowers.
A set of tickets for the Theater Marathon will be on sale from May 7, and individual tickets from May 20.
